OF WATER COOLED CABLES |

A very important part
of GECSA activity is the Revision and Repair of Water Cooled Cables.
We provide all time service, specially during maintenance periods
of the Steel Plants. GECSA repair any type of water cooled cable, no depending on manufacturer's procedence. If necessary we give maximum priority to repairing in order to avoid costly production breaks. GECSA make use of the necessary resources to perform fast diagnosis of the cable condition, sending the report to the customer in order to agree with them the scope of the repair to be done. |

| REPARAIR
LEVELS OF WATER COOLED CABLES |
LEVEL
1:  Measuring the
electrical resistance of the cable, thus determining the aging factor
of the copper conductors. Comprehensive
revision of the cable, performing a deep cleaning of mud and carbonate
deposits along the copper mass. Cleaning is carried out by projecting
a jet of water steam with addition of an acid solution, at 140 º
C and 150 bar. Recharge of brazing
of the terminals, if necessary; checking the inner core and the water
hose and external cover. Restoring the
external protections: eventually placement of an antiabrasive and ignifugue
cover all along the cable length. Eventually, placement of new protective
bumpers. Cleaning and
correcting terminals. Electrolytically silvering of contact surfaces.
